Noma, Copenhagen, Denmark

In our conquest to dine at San Pellegrino's top 3 restaurants in the world, we flew into Copenhagen to indulge ourselves at Noma. Food is always the medium that communicates across cultures, and Rene Redzepi does this with his personal rendition of gourmet Nordic cuisine. Even through a harsh European winter, he was able to deliver outstanding food worthy of the number 3 status. Rene was very down to earth and strips away the pretentiousness of other michelin restaurants. It was a pleasure and a highlight to have a chat about his inspirations, trends, and the future. Mmm... getting hungry just blogging about it!

Copenhagen or as the locals say København

The city of Hans Christian Andersen, open sandwiches, apple danishes, and our beloved Princess Mary. Our base for the 3 days was at the Axel Guldsmeden. Located on the dodgier side of town, it was still very close to all sites of Copenhagen. Highlight of the trip was dining for Saturday lunch at Noma Restaurant and ticking off San Pellegrino's top 3 restaurants of the world. We were also lucky enough to conduct our own house inspection of Prince Frederick and Princess Mary's newly renovated residence. Low point was food poisoning on the way back. Weak, limp, lifeless, but getting better!

Amsterdam

We braved the usual drizzle of Amsterdam to catch up with our mate Derrick from Oz. We relaxed with our indulgence in the smoked ham, soups, pancakes, and beer. Another chin and still going strong.
