Quay Restaurant, Sydney

We having been waiting to go to Quay since September, but we could only secure a Saturday night seating in February the next year. Thank you to the mates who chipped in on this wonderful present.
Having heard mixed reviews on this place, we didnt go with any expectations. Our first impression was poor service. The hostess was blatantly rude, first thing she did was take the voucher off us, than sat us down to an empty undressed table. We were only given the menu when we had asked the time poor waitstaff.
To brush this mishap aside, we went for the degustation menu + wine pairing. As each dish and pairing came out, we were quite surprised that everything across the menu was cooked really well, consistent, interesting and most of all enjoyable. The sommelier was fantastic, he could see Trent was the wine enthusiast with his IPad and notes and was willing to chat about each wine he had served, not to mention he was an Andy Lau (HK King of Pop) lookalike!
Overall, good view, good food and wine, good lighting for photos, we walked away pretty pleased with our experience.

Arras, Sydney

Having wanted to go to Arras for while but plans were put on hold due to new location with new renovations. Residing in the old Becasse location, the interior was white and bright, with really funky Paul Smith lookalike upholstered chairs.
We were looking forward to trying the british menu to celebrate Nick's birthday, but was kinda disappointed that it didnt really serve good ole brit food. However, the overall meal was pretty quirky, especially with the Sushi looking dessert + the candyshop like petit fours. Not to mention, the family was snapped and published on SMH! http://www.smh.com.au/entertainment/restaurants-and-bars/review/restaurant/arras-20111210-1oo7r.html
